Valley Bone & Joint Clinic is committed to bringing outstanding shoulder care to the Red River Valley and beyond. We've earned a reputation as the area’s Shoulder Center of Excellence by utilizing the latest techniques to provide the most comprehensive operative and non-operative shoulder care in eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota. Our team of skilled orthopedic surgeons is more experienced than any other group of physicians in the region. In fact, each of our doctors has performed shoulder surgeries for more than 20 years. However, experience isn’t the only thing that sets us apart. We also dedicate ourselves to staying up-to-date with the most current advancements that the field of shoulder care has to offer.

Dr. Darin Leetun

Dr. Darin T. Leetun is a restorative, regenerative, and anti-aging shoulder and knee specialist and orthopedic surgeon.  He established a Shoulder Center of Excellence upon joining Valley Bone & Joint Clinic. A North Dakota native with over 20 years of orthopedic experience, Dr. Leetun has a doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He completed orthopedic fellowships in Shoulder and Elbow at Perth Hand and Upper Extremity in Perth, Western Australia; Sports Medicine at Kentucky Sports Medicine in Lexington, Kentucky; and Sports Medicine at Perth Orthopedic and Sports Medicine in Perth, Western Australia. He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and the American Association of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Leetun works as a team physician for USA Hockey as well as US Ski and Snowboard team. While in Australia, he participated in the care of Australian Rules football and Cricket athletes.

Joff G. Thompson, M.D.

Dr. Joff Thompson joined Valley Bone & Joint Clinic after completing an orthopedic fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center where he worked with the team physicians for the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, Wild, Timberwolves and Lynx, as well as the University of Minnesota.

 

A Grand Forks, North Dakota, native, Dr. Thompson received his doctorate of medicine from the Duke University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, AAOS and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Thompson specializes in knee and shoulder surgery, sports medicine and adult reconstruction.

Dr. David Schall

Dr. David Schall joined Valley Bone & Joint Clinic after completing an orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. A native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Dr. Schall graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine with highest honors. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Schall specializes in hip replacement, partial and full knee replacement, shoulder surgery and sports medicine as well as providing general orthopedic and fracture care.

Dr. Edward Adams

Dr. Edward Adams has been in practice for more than 30 years. He specializes in sports medicine and orthopedic surgery. Originally from Grand Forks, he attended the University of North Dakota, then completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Minnesota and an orthopedic fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Michael Kruger

Dr. Michael Kruger specializes in sports medicine and is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of non-operative orthopedic injuries in adults and children related to both sports and industrial activities. Elements of his practice include management of fractures, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and concussions, along with performance of pre-operative and pre-participation physicals.

 

Dr. Kruger has worked with the University of North Dakota men’s hockey and football teams, as well as the Red River and Central High School boys’ football and hockey teams. A Langdon, North Dakota, native, he earned his doctorate of medicine from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and completed his residency at Grand Forks Family Medicine in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. Dr. Kruger also completed a sports medicine fellowship at Hennepin County Primary Care in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
